DIVISION 3 APPLICATION INFORMATION & DEADLINE

This is a three day tournament with consolation and finals in all Divisions.  All the teams are guaranteed 3 games,  and Finalists will have a 4th game. Friday games start at 12pm.

Register by April 20 and receive $50 discount; after June15, late fee of $50 will be applied and team is placed on waiting list.

Refunds of the tournament fee once a team has been accepted into the tournament is at the discretion of theTournament Director.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS
U9 - U11 Teams may register a maximum of sixteen (16) players; a team may use up to seven (7) guest players but is still limited to the sixteen players; only 14 players can dress up for game. U12 - U19 Teams may register a maximum of twenty six (26) players.  A team may use up to seven (7) guest players but is still limited to the twenty six players.  Only 18 can dress up for game

LENGTH OF GAME
Games may be shortened at the discretion of the Tournament Director due to weather, injuries, game delays, or other factors that would unduly compromise the tournament as scheduled.

CREDENTIALS
US Club player passes and other USSF affiliated members player passes (USYSA, USCS, etc.) are acceptable for all players. Roster and Medical Release forms will be required for check in and must be available at all games. We purchase insurance for all the teams so you do not need to purchase any additional insurance.

LOCATION
The tournament will be held at Palo Alto/Stanford or nearby Soccer Fields. 

GAME CHECK-IN
There will be no Friday Night check-in.  Teams will check in at least one hour before their first game at the field where they play. After their first game, a team is required to check in at the Field Marshal tent 30 minutes prior to scheduled start of each and every game.  At this time the Field Marshals/or referee will collect game rosters, check equipment, and check credentials.

HOME/VISITOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The first team listed on the schedule is the home team.  They will be responsible for the game ball, and be required to change jerseys if there is a color conflict.  Visitor team will be required to have a back-up game ball.  Players and coaches will be on one side of the field and spectators on the opposite side of the field.

GAME START FOR 8v8, 11V11
All games will start at the scheduled time.  If the team has not taken the fields with a minimum of 6 players for a 8v8 game or 7 players for a 11v11 game within 10 minutes of the start time of the game that game will result in a forfeit for that team, and 8 points will be awarded to the other team. If neither team takes the field by scheduled time, no points will be awarded

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

FOUR TEAM DIVISION:  A round robin format will be used with each team playing all other teams.  The two teams with the highest points will advance to the Championship game.  In case of a tie, the criteria of tie-breaking rules will apply.

FIVE TEAM DIVISION:  Will consist of one group of all five teams and play in a round robin format.  Team with the most points after four games will be the champion and the team with the second most points will take 2nd place.

SIX TEAM DIVISION: The teams will be divided into two flights of three teams each. Each team will play across. The two teams with the highest points in the division will advance to the championship game, and the two teams with the second highest points in the division will advance to the consolation game.

EIGHT TEAM DIVISION: Will consist of two groups with four teams each.  Teams will play the teams in their group; the team with the highest points in each group advancing to the championship game, with the second highest points in each group advancing to the consolation game.

TEN TEAM DIVISION:  Will consist of 3 groups. 1 group of 4 will play all other teams in their group, with the 1st place team in the group playing in the championship game, and the 2nd place team in the group playing in the consolation game. 2 other groups of 3 will play the other teams in their group, and then the 1st place team in one group will play the 1st place team in the other group with the winner of that game playing in the championship game, and the loser of that game playing in the consolation game.  The 2nd and 3rd place teams from the 3 teams groups will play each other respectively for their 3rd game.

TWELVE TEAM DIVISION:  Will consist of 3 groups of 4 teams.  Each team will play all the other teams in their group.  The 1st place team from each group will advance along with the 2nd place team with the highest points from one of the three groups will advance.  The two highest point 1st place teams from the 3 groups will play in the championship game.  The other 1st place team and the highest point total second place team will play for the consolation game.

SIXTEEN TEAM DIVISION:  Will consist of 4 groups of 4 teams each.  Each team will play all other teams in their group.  The four 1st place teams from each group will advance.  The 2 highest point total 1st place teams will play the championship game while the 2 lowest point total 1st place teams will play the consolation game.

POINT SYSTEM
6 points for a win
3 points for a tie
1 point for each goal scored up to 3 per game
0 points for a loss
1 point for a shutout includes 0-0 tie
The maximum number of points a team can earn is 10 points

RULES OF PLAY
FIFA Laws of the Game will apply.   

SUBSTITUTIONS
Unlimited substitutions are allowed.
A.  only by team awarded a throw-in
B. either team before goal kick, start of 2nd half, after goal score
C . When the referee stops play to caution a player the referee will give the Coach a choice of substituting the cautioned player.   

**Substitute must notify the referee and wait for his/her signal before entering the field.

EJECTIONS
If a player or coach is ejected from a game, the player/coach will be automatically suspended from the team’s next game.  All ejections will be reviewed by the tournament Director and may result in more than one game suspension.  Fighting and profanity by players and harassment of referees by coaches will not be tolerated. Five (5) points will be deducted for each red card received by a coach or assistant coach. Two (2) points will be deducted for each read card received by a player.

TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES

  1. Head to Head
  2. Goal Differential
  3. Goals against the team with the fewest allowed
  4. Goals For – the team with the most goals with the maximum of four goals per game
  5. If a tie exists, the winner will be decided by penalty kicks.
  6. If more than two teams are tied, the order of pairing will be decided by penalty kicks.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME/CONSOLATION GAMES
Tie breaking procedures; if a tie exists upon completion of regulation play, the teams will go directly to penalty kicks.

AWARDS
All participants will receive a tournament pin for each player on your team.
4, 5, team brackets – Awards will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place.
6, 8, 10, 12 and 16 team brackets – Awards will be awarded to 1st through 4th place.

TOURNAMENT  CANCELLATION
If the tournament must be cancelled due to inclement weather, acts of civil disobedience, war, destruction of facilities or other circumstances deemed by the tournament committee to be beyond control of the hosting league, the tournament may retain up to 30% of the entry fee once the tournament’s expenses are verified and approved by the Tournament Committee Chairman. Refunds of no less than 70% of the team’s entry fee will be postmarked and mailed to the teams within 45 days of the approved tournament date.

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE
The tournament committee shall consist of the Tournament Director and any other pre-designated Tournament Officials. Field Marshals and age-group coordinators shall adjudicate field-specific and age group issues.
