Stanford SC & PSV Union FC Announce Technical Partnership to Provide More Opportunities for Local Youth

Friday March 10, 2017

Stanford Soccer Club and PSV Union FC Academy have formed a cooperative approach and common pathway for youth soccer in Palo Alto and surrounding areas. This partnership is a bridge between clubs that simplifies the process of identifying and vetting the best possible fit in a club program for families and players, and offers more opportunities for training and development through collaborative programs. Each club retains its unique culture and will continue to be managed and run autonomously as separate entities, while also working toward the greater good of our larger community. Local families will benefit from more choices and less anxiety in the search for finding the right club for their child.

Initially, the SSC-PSV partnership will offer these benefits:

• Seasonal open tryouts and trial periods will be coordinated between clubs in order to allow players to experience both the common and unique personalities of teams, coaches and players without the hassle and time consuming effort of attending separate tryouts.

• During the season, joint practices will offer specialized training and social interactions with peers and various coaches that allow players to experience different development environments.

OBJECTIVES/MOTIVATION

SSC and PSV are both located in Palo Alto and share a common interest in providing opportunities for youth soccer players through trainings and teams, with the objective of long term development. PSV focuses on the girls side of the game, nurturing local talent and providing a pathway to elite soccer. SSC maintains its focus on both boys and girls programs in a balanced competitive environment. The collaboration between SSC and PSV enables the creation of a development pathway for increasingly committed and skilled female players to advance to the PSV USSF Development Academy and NPL teams. PSV and SSC will also provide supplementary training sessions for motivated girls players of all ages throughout the year. Both clubs will remain independent and separate entities, while cooperating to provide training and team solutions for local families.

The collaboration between SSC and PSV will enable players and families to have the opportunity to enjoy both recreational and competitive options locally, which will strengthen the soccer community in Palo Alto.

PSV Union FC Academy is a year round Girls-only club with a focus on developing players to play at Elite & Premier levels in college and beyond. Our goal is to provide the best program, training and environment for the most dedicated potential talent in the city and region. We offer programs for girls ages 3-6 (Junior Academy training) and 7-18 (competitive teams & training).
